”The Fall of Pagoda” memorial printed out its Chinese version after the 15th anniversary of Eileen Chang's death. However, traced back to 1963, June 23th, the letter between Eileen and Song Chi has already pointed out that ”The Fall of Pagoda” signified ”The White Snake”, The tower that eternally oppressed white Maiden in ”Legend of the White Snake”. To be more exact, the main idea focused on how women gained the freedom by getting rid of family's tyrannical shackles in May Fourth era, then further proved the matches of ”Fall's” details, autobiographical prose ”Written on Water” and her ”obvious plot” in youth hood as well. Then, during the rewriting, Eileen made good use of an ancient allegory of folklore that combined with her trauma and life struggle in reality into the story of white snake. To sum up, as a metaphor, ”Fall” not only signified the ”interpretive”, ”implied” route from folklore's archetype that deepen in Eileen's mind, moreover, the essay aims to dissect the trajectory in repetitive family theatre and its ”movement”.
