In the context of Eastern Asia studies, the academic studies on Taiwan, whatever in history, literature, politics and economy, are getting more and more important. One of the themes worthy of attention is the context of thoughts. The reason is that Taiwan in Japanese colonial period confronted with serious challenges from political transition as well as philosophically changes. In Japanese colonial period, many officials from Japan brought forth colonization by literature and thoughts mixed with Chinese philosophy and Japanese spirit. In this circumstance, confusion between Chinese and Japanese occurred and became the characteristics of Taiwanese culture in Japanese colonial period. In this study, I research on one Japanese official Ono Shinzei. His thoughts oriented from Confucius, but expanded the part of utilitarian in order to reinforce colonization in Taiwan. Through this method, he tried to persuade Taiwanese people of the new citizenship to reach Japanese political purpose.
