Yao Jiheng performed his academic activities mainly on books distinguished in the early Qing Dynasty. According to the available information, the range of his distinguishing job was very widespread. He had great influence on the contemporary era. However after the Chien and Jia Emperors, he was downhearted gradually and his writings were seriously scattered and disappeared. Yet Yao's study turned out very obvious effect on the "Sort out the Country's Antiquities" movement during the early years of the Republic of China. To my knowledge, there were many people including Hu Shi, Gu Tser-kong, Chien Mu, Ho Dingsheng, Liou Yicheng and Chen Ju proceeded study on Yao's writings and academic records from 1920 to 1945. Among these researchers, Hu Shi and Gu Tser-kong were the most enthusiastic persons to explore Yao Jiheng's writings and his life and they attained the most. Their energetic academic actions encouraged people to study Yao Jiheng at that time. The other researchers mostly observed Yao's academic points just to put the stress on his academic performance on "brave enough to doubt the ancient". Except Gu Tserkong, Mr. Chien Binshi the scholar who paid most attentively to Ya Jiheng. He put great stress on analyze Yao Jiheng's academic origin of his characteristics of "doubt the antiquities" and his position in the academic environment of Qing Dynasty to present a "Contemporary" Yao Jiheng in his own writings such as "Hostory of Chinese Learning During the Last Three Centuries" Chapter Six (Yen Chienchiu, Mao Shiho), "Recordings on Yao Lifang's Introduction on Book of Rites", "Qing Dynasty Confucianism Preface" and "Recordings on General Theory of Yao Lifang's the book of Songs". The present study interprets Yao's academic characteristics which was understood by Mr. Chien and from his study on the related points about Yao Jiheng. Therefore we can position Yao in the academic history of early Qing Dynasty.
