With the development of mountain climbing in the last few years, the Number of climbing accidents also increases dramatically. It is possible that the inappropriate attitudes of some climbers might cause direct impacts to the sensitive and vulnerable mountain environment and bring problems. In order to raise the quality of mountain climbing activities and minimize the environmental impacts, it is important to develop mountaineering security and environmental education for climbers. The purpose of the study was to discuss the differences of the participating motivation to climbing risks from the climbers owing to various kinds of backgrounds. It also examined whether the climbing risks and environmental attitude have relationships with each other. More than that, the study also wanted to find a way to decrease mountain climbing accidents because of the climbers' lack in understanding climbing risks. Purposive samplings used to select the climber of the East Xue Trail in Taichung City as the research sample. At 3,886 meters, Xue Mountain is the second highest peak in Taiwan. It is also the highest peak within the Shei-Pa National Park. Moreover, to make up a deficiency of the sampling amount, people can also fill out the questionnaires through the internet. The findings of the study support the importance of mountaineering security and environmental education in order to lower the risks and increase the safety of mountain climbing. |
