The purpose of this research was to investigate the provision of sport facilities in elementary schools in Nantou county and their accessibility to the public. Researchers would like to suggest the authorities to develop strategies to improve the accessibility to school sport facilities, and establish comprehensive and practical regulations for administrations according to the research findings. As research objects, administrators of physical education (or sport administrators) in 149 elementary schools in Nantou county were collected for the study via questionnaires. The data from the collected questionnaires were analyzed by using descriptive analysis and one-way ANOVA. The findings of the research were: 1. The installation and management of sport facilities in elementary schools in Nantou county: there is a higher percentage of the installation for outdoor sports field, track and field areas, and playing grounds at schools than other facilities. A higher percentage of outdoor multi-purpose sports courts, track and field areas, playing grounds, outdoor basketball courts, and gymnasiums (activity centers) are managed while other facilities may not have one. 2. Accessibility of facilities to the communities: more than 70% of the outdoor multi-purpose sports courts, track and field areas, and playing grounds are accessible. A higher percentage of gymnasiums (activity centers) charge for usage while others do so less frequently, and most of them do not charge at all. 3. The factors which influence their accessibility to communities, in order of their importance are safety, system, human resources, budget, management, facility resource, and managers. 4. There is no significant difference between different areas and destines of elementary schools on the factors that influence the accessibility of their sport facilities. However, the elementary schools of different sizes were found to have a significant difference in management factors.
