This study investigates the association between ethnic language retention and endogamy amongst Foreign-born and U.S.-born Chinese. Previous East Asian intermarriage research has typically omitted the role of ethnic language in endogamy. This study draws on data from 2010's 3-year American Community Survey to understand the influence of ethnic language on endogamy amongst both, foreign-born and U.S.-born Chinese. Sample participants are separated based on birthplace and gender for the logistic regression model analysis. The findings identify a high correlation between ethnic language and endogamy, regardless of birthplace. However, the findings highlight English language fluency has a greater influence on endogamy amongst foreign-born Chinese than their U.S.-born counterparts.
