This paper examines the contemporary significance of Ogyu Sorai's Confucianism in terms of the concept of man and the theory of education. For Sorai, all existence in the world should be maintained in its original form, and this plurality of forms is an indispensable element of this world, so its existence should be recognized as meaningful. Furthermore, Sorai sees the limits of education that lacks trust between teachers and students, or that relies too much on ideas or language, and argues that true education is based on the students' trust and admiration for the teacher and on the students' spontaneous awareness of problems. This is the most effective method of education. The author believes that Sorai's educational theory is worth listening to and referring to. In addition, in a modern society with an increasingly complex social and industrial structure, Sorai's advocacy of a pluralistic view of the human being is also inspiring.
