現今社會醫療系統發達，並重視養生之道，使得壽命延長，民國104年台灣的老人比率已達12.51%，進入高齡化國家。儘管老化是自然的趨勢，在面對急遽的人口老化速率，政府與社會大眾早已開始重視老人的醫療保健與安養照護，試圖讓老人獲得較佳的生理健康照顧，相較之下老人的心理健康較容易被忽視，而諮商與心理治療有助於老人在老化過程中看到自己生命發展歷程中的多樣性與優勢，本文旨在從國內外文獻及實務經驗破除老化迷思，作者根據生態系統觀點，探討老人的諮商服務，以及諮商心理師的角色與功能，發展出諮商心理師在生態系統理論下與不同專業領域團隊的合作，期此觀點能應用於實務方面，協助老人朝超越老化、成功老化等正向積極的方向，達到心靈健康充實。
