顧堅幼隨其姑母顧山山習唱北曲,後又參與了顧瑛主持的玉山草堂的文人雅集,故其創立的是依字定腔、用中州音演唱的清唱崑山腔,不是依腔傳字、用昆山方言演唱的劇唱昆山腔。魏良輔的改革,即是用顧堅的清唱昆山腔的演唱形式來改革南戲劇唱昆山腔。 |

From early childhood, Gu Jian studied beiqu singing from his paternal aunt Gu Shanshan. Later, he took part in the literary gatherings of Gu Ying's Jade-Mountain Thatched-Cottage (Yushan caotang). Consequently, he derived the melody from text, and accorded Kunshan melodies to the Zhongzhou phonological system, instead of deriving the text from the melody, and according Kunshan melodies sung to Kunshan dialect phonology. Wei Liangfu's reform consisted of applying Gu Jian's performance style, namely unaccompanied Kunshan qiang melodies, to nanxi plays. |
