英文摘要

This article reviews Canadian non-status Indian Métis, how Métis have attempted to have their collective identities and land right claim recognized by the Canadian government. After a brief discussion on Canadian's government definitions of Indigenous Peoples and Indian status, this essay analyzes the fundamental nature and origins of Métis indigenous rights claim, and utilizes the case of Alberta Métis Settlements Act to examine Métis' indigenous title. In concluding section, the author brings discussion and highlighted attention on importance of indigenous peoples' rights to the land and how indigenous land connects her peoples to indigenous cultural and identity revitalization.
