老舍在〈柳家大院〉一文中，以內部觀點、配角的角度，表面敘述北京某個四合院裡王姓人家的兒媳婦死亡事件之始末，實則控訴這悲劇的發生是源自於中國老舊社會的弊病。老舍維持一貫的幽默嘲弄筆調，在喜劇的包裝中卻沉痛地揭示了人民趨炎附勢的可悲性格、社會底層弱勢者生存的無奈、敗壞的中國傳統文化，以及女性在傳統父權社會中屢遭壓迫的悲哀等悲劇意涵。這樣的諷刺手法，使〈柳家大院〉的內涵更顯深刻。本文欲探討的是老舍在〈柳家大院〉中表現諷刺的藝術手法。透過聯想諷刺及直觀諷刺兩個面向，分析老舍是如何巧妙地以技巧性的諷刺之筆，將時代的問題明白的揭露出來。
