台灣老年人口比例增加，老年人因車禍創傷住院比例也逐年上升，老年創傷病人在經歷手術治療後較容易發生併發症及長期臥床，導致後續功能衰退甚至失能，除了造成家庭社會照顧上的負擔，對於其生活品質更是一大傷害。本文個案為83歲男性因車禍住院接受腹部手術後，因持續功能衰退而在出院後被送至護理之家照顧，造成長期臥床並導致憂鬱情緒及營養不良問題。老年科團隊透過周全性老年評估發現問題後，提供適當的營養補充與情緒支持，以及利用合適輔具進行復健活動，協助病人逐漸恢復生活功能，進而改善情緒與營養狀態，最終可返家生活且達到較好的生活品質。

In Taiwan, population aging has triggered a constant rise in the incidence of geriatric trauma and hospitalization. In particular, elderly patients often experience subsequent complications, bed rest and functional decline after undergoing a surgery during hospitalization. Postoperative functional decline often results in disability that in turn leads to subsequent long-term care and poor quality of life. In this case report, because of functional decline following discharge from the hospital after trauma and abdominal surgery, an 83-year-old man was sent to a nursing home where he experienced malnutrition and depression in his bed-ridden status. With comprehensive geriatric assessment and further interventions including sufficient nutrition, emotional support and rehabilitation with adequate assistant devices, the geriatric team was able to improve his daily activity, nutrition, and mood status to the extent that he eventually returned home and enjoyed a better quality of life.
