因經濟弱勢造成的月經貧窮,對婦女的教育、就業和生活的各個方面帶來了困難和限制。本研究目的為探討月經貧窮對大學經濟弱勢女學生造成的影響以及改善行動,採方便取樣以及滾雪球方式訪談15位大學經濟弱勢女學生,並利用主題分析法來處理資料。研究發現,大學經濟弱勢女學生有能力購買生理用品,但由於收入與支出失衡,她們會犧牲生理用品的預算,導致身體、心理和社會方面的負面影響,包括:陰道感染、焦慮、自卑、社會參與度降低和影響課堂表現。月經貧窮不僅是個人問題,亦是社會性、公共性的議題。為了落實《消除對婦女一切形式歧視公約》(Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women)中將經期健康視為公共衛生和人權問題的呼籲,以及聯合國永續發展目標(Sustainable Development Goals),教育主管機關及學校積極介入,如:發放生理用品實物或票券、性別平等宣傳等作為,可以減緩處於月經貧窮學生的身心窘迫情形。

英文摘要

Period poverty, which results from an economically disadvantaged status, imposes difficulties and restrictions on women's education, employment, and various facets of life. This study aims to investigate the impacts of period poverty on economically disadvantaged female university students and possible ameliorative strategies, and thus employed purposive and snowball sampling techniques to conduct interviews with 15 economically disadvantaged female university students. Thematic analysis was utilized to analyze interviewing data. The results of this study found that economically disadvantaged female university students had to compromise their budget for period products as a result of an imbalance between income and expenditure. This imbalance negatively affected the physical, psychological, and social aspects of their life. Period poverty is not only a personal but also a social and public issue. It is vital to align with the call to recognize period health as a public health and human rights issue as outlined in the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. The active interventions of education authorities and schools, such as distributing period products, coupons, and promoting education for gender equality, help to alleviate the physical and mental distress of female students in period poverty.
