「性」在伴侶夫妻關係間扮演著重要的角色，因此性生活是否適合、和諧或滿意極為重要，過去學術研究大多著重在性滿意度的研究，也發現了許多影響的因素，但仍無法解決過去台灣有許多人的婚姻因性生活問題而造成的離婚，可能忽略了一個重要的概念—性契合。由於過去學術實證發現性契合是性滿意度的重要的相關因素，但是在過去性契合的概念似乎未被深入探討，因此本文研究以質性研究方式，以焦點團體訪談10位，婚齡於5～20年間的受訪者探討國內性契合之概念，發現性契合就是當與伴侶心靈或情感上感受到一致時，就感受到性契合，對於認知及性行為上的差異，可以溝通方式解決，並且生活中的工作、生活壓力及孩子教養等都會影響性契合，當超過40歲後，養育孩子等壓力消失時，性契合度又再度回升，然而若與伴侶無性行為者，仍可以養育孩子作為共同的話題，維持情感的親密。

＂Sex＂ plays an important role in the relationship between couples. Therefore, it is important to have a harmonious and satisfying sex life. In the past, researchers have investigated many factors that contribute to sexual satisfaction, yet there are still some sexual issues that exist between couples. According to the data, many people in Taiwan are divorced due to sexual issues in their marriages, and they may have overlooked the important concept of sexual compatibility. Since the past empirical findings have found that sexual compatibility plays an important relevant factor in sexual satisfaction, the concept of sexual compatibility seems to have not been explored in depth. Therefore, this study used a qualitative research method to interview 10 people in a focus group, who have been married for 5 to 20 years. Interviewees claimed that sexual compatibility happened when they could experience similar emotional or sexual affections from their partners. When differences occurred in sexual expectations and sexual behavior, couples stated that communication could reduce the differences and bring them closer. However, pressures from work, life, and raising children affected their sexual compatibility, but the closeness of sexual compatibility came back when the issues disappeared. If couples have low or no sexual activity, they pointed out that raising children could be a common topic to maintain emotional intimacy.
