從事英語教學已經將近四十年,我所教的對象是英語為非母語的學生,亦即ESL(English as a Second Language)。在這麽多年的教學當中,我接觸到不同年齡,程度,種族,需求等的ESL學生。在我的職業生涯裏,經過不同社會與文化的洗禮,在台灣出生與成長,在美國東部念教育研究所,在美國西部工作,三十年後又囘到台灣,隨著科技的發展,如今的學習方式與以前又大有不同,也更多元。感謝德明科技大學國際貿易系鄭竹均主任的誠心邀請我回校任教,讓我有機會回饋母校,亦引發我想撰此文分享我寶貴的教學經驗。這份報告記錄了我多年的教學心得,針對不同族群的不同需求所設計的課程及理由,也包括學生與學生家長的反饋。希望能與對英語教學有興趣的老師和學生們交流。

英文摘要

I have been teaching English as a second language (ESL) for almost forty years. In my professional life, I have met students from different age groups, levels, countries, and needs. The passion of my teaching drove me to pursue a master's degree in education. Since iPhone was available in 2007, which the whole world was brought to our fingertips, a big revolution of how we teach and learn has begun. This report records my curriculum designs for different groups of students as well as my teaching experience and teaching material sharing. I wish to receive feedback from teachers and students who are interested in ESL teaching and learning.
