This study aims at exploring both external and internal environment of an online game, and the environmental factors influencing its participants' playing behavior. In this study, the external environment was divided into: service, promotion, perspective, and social factors. The internal environment was grouped as: audiovisual, content/activity, and interaction factors. A survey investigation method was employed to fulfill the research purposes. The results showed that the most influential factor of the external game environment was its service. Also, the study found that companions affected the player's decision to participate, which was particularly obvious in male players. Our results also indicated that both factors of audiovisual and content/activity of internal game environment had great influences on the player. The role appearance, scene design, and assigned task within the online game also attracted its players. In addition, the study found that the opportunity to make friends was another focal point for the players.
