人工合成類固醇，或稱蛋白同化雄性激素類固醇，是以雄性激素為主要成分的人工類固醇。而睪固酮於體內自然的形成與分泌，為雄性激素主要分泌來源，對運動的影響，為對能量代謝反應或骨骼肌細胞之增長與萎縮等層面的調控存在具有重要意義。儘管原本人工合成類固醇的主要功能是在醫療上之用途，目前已被運動員廣泛用來提升自己的運動表現。本文嘗試從人工合成類固醇的效用、使用對象、使用方法、使用後可能的副作用及是否成癮來分析，以提供運動選手或體育界相關人員參考。
英文摘要

Anabolic steroids, known as anabolic-androgenic steroids, are drugs that have similar effects to testosterone in the body. They are of great significance to the regulation of metabolic energy and growth and atrophy of skeletal muscles cells. Anabolic steroids are man-made substances related to male sex hormones. Medical uses of anabolic steroids include some hormone problems in men, late puberty and muscle loss from some diseases. However, bodybuilders and athletes often use anabolic steroids to build muscles and improve athletic performance. The purpose of this study was therefore to understand the effects of anabolic steroids, who will use them, how they are used and abused, and side effects and complications of anabolic steroids. Finally some recommendations are given to athletes or other relevant personnel in the sports community.
