Human beings can create all things because of their intelligent minds and skillful hands. However, various man-made creations have a certain historical development and context. They also contain the same patterns and some common principles in the scope of design. Shape has always been a commonly used term in design education. Whether it is product design, interior design, architectural design, visual communication design, digital multimedia design, etc., there are classes on shape or related content, which shows its importance. The principle of beautiful shape has always been the guideline pursued in design. It also exists in nature. Many design forms and contents are also inseparable from its scope, such as: proportion, harmony, gradation, gradient, specificity, symmetry, repetition, harmony, balance, contrast, etc., have different styles and changes, so they can better display various visual aesthetics. In the discussion of the formal principles of beauty and design elements, this article not only discusses each principle and the basic elements of design, but also makes connections in the visual communication design part as a reference for design practice. The full text is mainly divided into five major units: introduction, formal principles of beauty, design elements, design components, the elements of visual design and conclusion. 1. The preface mainly explains the correlation between the formal principles of beauty and design elements in this article. 2. The formal principle of beauty mainly introduces its types and contents. 3. The components of design mainly explain the content of points, lines, surfaces, and bodies. 4. The elements of visual design mainly explain the functionality of text, patterns and colors. 5. Conclusion mainly summarizes the application in graphic visual communication design.

人類由於擁有智慧的頭腦與巧妙的雙手所以能創造萬物，相對的各種人為造物卻都是有著一定的歷史發展與脈絡，在設計的範籌裡同樣蘊藏著相同的模式，有著一些共通的原理。造形，一直以來都是設計教育上常用的名詞，不論是產品設計、室內設計、建築設計、視覺傳達設計、數位多媒體設計等都有造形的課程或相關內容安排學習上課，由此可見其重要性。美的造形原理一直以來皆為在設計上奉行的圭臬，它也存在於大自然之中，許多設計的形式和內容也都離不開其範圍，例如：比例、和諧、漸層、漸變、特異、對稱、反覆、調和、平衡、對比等，因有著不同的樣式與變化，所以更能顯示出在視覺上所呈現各種不同的美感。本文在美的形式原理與設計基本要素的探討中，除探討各原理和設計基本要素外，特別在視覺傳達設計的部分做結語以做為設計實務的參考。全文主要分為前言、美的形式原理、設計基本要素、設計的構成要素、平面視覺設計要素及結論等五大單元。一、前言主要說明本文美的形式原理與設計基本要素等的關聯性。二、美的形式原理主要介紹其種類與內容。三、設計的構成要素主要詮釋有關點、線、面、體的內容。四、平面視覺設計要素主要銓釋文字、圖案及色彩的機能性。五、結論主要總結在平面視覺傳達設計上的應用。
