"Sketches of Travels in Hunan," which composed by Shen Cong-Wen, is an important collection of essays to build a world of "Western Hunan." The essays are mainly describing the surrounding and the landscape on his way home in 1934. It is worth noted that the articles not only focuses on people and natural's depiction, but concerns the history and change of resident in his hometown. In general, this paper aims to combine humanity with natural environment from Shen Cong-Wen's perspective of humanity and natural environment in the past and the imagination in the future. Therefore, the impression of "lonely traveler" and the writing of ecological literature will be derived from the content. Consequently, I hope to grasp the implied equality interaction between the humanity and ecology from the "correspondence" to "fusion." As a result, we can have profound understanding of the feelings of "Western Hunan" from Shen Cong-Wen's work.
