奧林匹克運動會4年舉辦一次，是全球矚目的重要運動賽會之一，更是所有運動員的最高競技殿堂，因此吸引各國的新聞傳播媒體爭相報導。2016年里約奧林匹克運動會，為期17日的賽程，內涵28種競賽運動、42種競賽科目、306種競賽項目，計有207個國家（地區）參賽。共有11,303位選手，角逐812面金牌，而中華臺北隊共有18種競賽運動，選手55人參賽。眾所周知在新聞傳媒中，以報紙的歷史最為悠久，具穩定、普及、詳盡與可重複性的優勢，因此對於議題形塑、導引輿論關注、提供意見、教育大眾更是有潛移默化的影響力。蘋果日報是臺灣的報業龍頭之一，熱衷報導體育賽事。藉由2016年里約奧運中華代表隊，參加奧運賽事期間，蒐集蘋果日報所登載圖次數、內容、面積與所佔百分比，及各隊登載率高低，所得結果與結論，可供給體育界人士與新聞媒體業者參考。其結果為：各運動項目頭版圖像次數及面積排序：舉重第1，網球第2；內頁圖像登載次數排序：跆拳道第1、羽球第2；內頁面積排序：跆拳道第1、射箭第2；登載率排序第1為舉重隊、跆拳道隊第2。

The Summer Olympics Games held every four years is one of the remarkable sports games in the world. It is honored by all the athletes and attracts media attention world-wide. The 2016 Summer Olympics, commonly known as Rio 2016, was celebrated from 5 to 21 August 2016. Around 11,303 athletes from 207 National Olympic Committees took part and competed for 812 Olympic gold medals. The games featured 28 Olympic sports, including 42 disciplines as well as 306 events. The Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee sent a team of 55 athletes to compete in 18 sports at the Games. As we know, among all the media, newspaper has the longest tradition, and has the advantages of providing stories with stability and specification, as well as of great popularity. Hence, newspaper indeed has a great influence on addressing issues, stirring up public concern, providing opinion, and educating the public. Apple Daily, one of the largest newspapers in Taiwan, is keen on reporting sporting events. This study collected data released by Apple Daily for the duration of The Chinese Taipei participating in Rio 2016. Data which can be provided as reference for athletic industry and press agencies include the number of infographics and photos and illustrations released, news contents, sizes of layouts, and frequency of each team. The results are as follows. Weightlifting ranks as the first in the number of infographics and photos and sizes of layouts on front pages, and Tennis as the second; in the number of infographics and photos on inside pages, Taekwondo ranks as the first, Badminton as the second; in the sizes of layouts on inside pages, Taekwondo ranks as the first, Archer y as the second; as for the rate of exposure, Weightlifting ranks as the first, Taekwondo ranks as the second.
