Objective: In recent years, the use of Vibration Foam Roller (VFR) has become a trend, and this study will explore whether the use of VFR recovery or warm-up can increase the range of motion (ROM), and reduce the muscle stiffness, therefore reduce the risk of sports injuries. Methods: A search of the entire PubMed database, VFR and ROM were used as keywords to search. The effects of VFR on muscles and joints were discussed according to the relevant studies results and conclusions, and the relevant mechanisms were compiled. Results: Studies revealed that VFR increases hip ROM (9%);has short-term effects in knee ROM (9%); and significantly improves ankle ROM (6%).It also has the effect of preventing muscle strain on the degree of muscle tension. Conclusion: It is shown that VFR significantly improves ROM before and after training that it can consider VFR as a first line of warm-up exercise. The article will help coaches and athletes improve performances and decrease injury risk.
