Purpose: To explore the effect of immediate electrical stimulation on the performance of forward kicking in Wushu. Methods: Eight male students from the special Wushu class of Normal University were recruited as experimental participants (average height 175.88 ± 5.82 cm, weight 66.50 ± 6.65 kg, age 21.63 ± 0.92 years old). During the experiment, 17 sensors were installed on the research participants, and an inertial motion capture system was used to complete the collection of kinematic parameters. Each participant tried his best to complete the forward kicking action in the first test (T1), and in the second test (T2), he had 30 minutes of NMES intervention first, and then tried his best to complete the forward kicking action (T1 and T2 need to be separated more than 72 hours). Descriptive statistics were used to calculate the mean and standard deviation, and then Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used to test the differences between T1 and T2 kinematic parameters, and the significance level was set at α = .05. Results: Thigh acceleration T2 was significantly greater than T1 at the instant of liftoff (z = -2.521, P = .012). There were no significant differences in other kinematic parameters (P > .05). Conclusion: In terms of martial arts positive kicking technique, the intervention effect of NMES was significantly better than that of traditional training, and it significantly improves the thigh acceleration at the moment of leaving the ground. Through dual regulation of muscle flexibility and strength, NMES intervention helps make the forward kicking movement smoother and more effective. However, short-term NMES intervention is a limitation of this study. In order to comprehensively evaluate its effectiveness, future research is recommended to further explore the effectiveness of periodic and longer-term NMES intervention training.
