Su Qu have been wildly prevailing since their beginning in Ming Dynasty, and they were not until the late Ching Dynasty and the early Republic of China that they began to decline. While examining the abundant references of Su Qu, it can be found that there seems to have many similarities and correlations between the lyrics and songs. Thus, it can be asserted that imitation and variation are crucial techniques of Su Qu. This research aims to probe into the ways of imitation and variation by analyzing the different types they used with and songs they used in. Furthermore, by discussing the reasons behind these approaches, one can begin to understand the multiplied lyrics and songs of Su Qu and the profound impact on the progress and development of Su Qu.
