Chung, Chang-Jhih. 2022. A study of Move Analysis from Korean Academic Thesis Written by Chinese and Korean Native Speakers: Focus on the Introduction Contents. This study used the CARS+3 model to analyze the differences between Chinese native speakers in Taiwan and Korean native speakers in Korean thesis. In terms of establishing a territory, even the study revealed that the two groups used similar strategies in defining the research scope, yet they are still slightly different. In terms of niche building, the two groups used different strategies of move. The differences stemmed from their perspectives on existing research findings, and the different perspectives led to the use of different moves to support research legitimacy. In terms of occupancy niche, the Korean native speakers explained the research methodology and structure of the paper in detail, while the Chinese native speakers in Taiwan used more words to explain the purpose of the research. In addition, the study also observed that Taiwanese native speakers used more irrelevant statements in their papers than Korean native speakers. |
