這是一篇在北－伊索匹亞的提格州(State of Tigray)對阿瑪拉族群(Amara) 所作的一個民族音樂學調查的研究與心得。作者嘗試從提格當地人民的社會生活中來解釋其音樂的功能與價值；此外作者也對婚禮儀式中常見的輪唱方式、結構、角色與功能提出一些說明與看法。

This article dealt with the ethnomusicological field research carried out among the Amara ethnic group in the Regional State of Tigray, North-Ethiopia. An attempt was made to explain the function and value of music in the social life of the Tigray. Through examining the traditional songs performed on a wedding ceremony, the author gives special attention to widely practiced antiphonal songs, their structures, roles and functions in the music culture of the Tigray.
