「水中生產」是婦女產子的一種方式，由發展迄今已有50餘年。在演進過程中可以歸納為三期：嘗試期、學術研究期、邁向溫柔生產和實證研究期，其中也發現有四項議題是產婦、助產人員與醫護人員較為關注，分別為會陰裂傷與排尿問題、減輕疼痛與胎兒狀況、母親與胎兒感染情形和水中生產相關注意事項，藉由這些關注議題來檢視婦女生產現況和產婦需求，作為助產和醫療照護人員思考之方向，目前處於少子化的時代，能夠提供婦女優質的生產，並讓生產成為婦女終身難忘地感動時刻。
