中文摘要

1,600m run/walk test has been taken as the official assessment of aerobic fitness for students. However, it was found that the participants' motivation and pacing induced great disturbances, and in hence directly influenced the accuracy of the test in assessing aerobic fitness. The purpose of this study was to investigate if the validity of 1,600m run/walk test would be improved through monitoring the heart rate while testing. The target range of exercise intensity was set as which is optimal to improve cardiovascular efficiency. The participants were 21 male healthy college students (age = 19.71 ± 1.01yr, height = 173.18 ± 5.81cm, weight = 65.42 ± 11.51kg). Each participant should complete one maximal exercise testing and two 1,600m run/walk tests at different day. In the first 1,600m run/walk, participants were allowed to run/walk with self-selected speed. On the average, the heart rate response reached steady state after 1 min, and slope of pre-steady state of heart rate responses was computed as 1.915. At the second 1,600m run/walk, participants were asked to finish modified test within ”individual restricted duration” under the intensity of 75% heart rate reserve (HRR). The individual restricted duration was computed as ”[target heart rate (bpm) - resting heart rate (bpm)] / 1.915”. Collected data were analyzed by Pearson Product Moment Correlation, and it showed that both tests were significantly related with aerobic capacity (r = -.55 vs. -.80, p < .05). Results indicated that the modified 1,600m run/walk test was more effective for assessing aerobic fitness of college male students. We suggest that monitoring heart rate responses within target intensity when engaging 1,600m run/walk test is imperative in further study and aerobic fitness test. The target intensity range could be considered from rest heart rate and predicted maximal heart rate (HRmax = 220-age), and the target range could be set as 75% HRR.
