民國八十一年六月廿八日至七月一日於苗栗縣泰安溫泉地區進行三天二夜之動物資源調查。共紀錄到昆蟲類十三目六十九科一百八十八種；魚類二目二科四種;兩棲類四科十二種；爬行類五科八種;鳥類二十二科四十六種；哺乳類五目九科十一種。整體而言，此地區的動物資源仍相當豐富。

From June 28 to July 1, 1992; collecting team of Department of Biology, NTNU, went to Taian Hot Spring, Miao-Li Hsien for collection. We have recorded 188 species of insects in 69 families, four species of fish (two families), 12 species of amphibian (four families), eight species of reptile (five families), 46 species of birds (22 families), and 11 species of mammals (nine families). In conclusion, animals are still abundant in this area.
