The smooth flow of "qi/chi" (energy) can prevent one from getting sick. When the external "evil spirit" (hsieh) attacks a person, it would produce some "obstacles" in the body, resulting in the mental unstableness. The so-called "Energy Medicine" nowadays proves that the "evil qi/chi" on the one hand can produce the unhappy memories in the brain; for instance, the unstable emotion would result in flatulence in abdomen. On the other hand, stable mental state can prevent the link of all "evil spirit" together, resulting in the smooth flow of "qi/chi" through every cell in the body. The main principle of "Taoism" for forming "well-being" of a person is the "prevention" of any possible "sickness" in that person. This explains the importance of knowing the connection between the practice of well-being formation and sickness. Thus, this essay intends to take "qi/chi" as the main focus through the close reading of "Well-Being Forming" in Invaluable Prescriptions for the prevention and treatment of sickness. |
