現今的社會生活常會遭遇有關醫療處置或藥物使用的問題,因此大學生應該具備基本的醫藥知識。本研究探討中部某所科技大學的學生對於這門具有生活應用性的「保健醫藥」通識課程的學習意願及缺課情形。該所大學在101學年度的上下學期,分別於星期一與星期五的早上8點,與星期二的晚上8點開設此一門2學分的課程,總共有331位修課學生。本課程由同一位教師以相同的教學內容及方式進行授課。授課教師在每次首堂上課時點名及進行缺課記錄。研究結果顯示早上上課的班級,缺課5次以上的學生人數比例(31%,101/331)顯著地較晚間上課的班級(2%,6/331)來得高。不論日夜的班級,下學期的缺課情形都明顯比上學期來得嚴重(4.5vs.3.1,p=.001;1.7vs.0.9,p=.004)。學生的缺課次數與其課程成績之間有著明顯的負相關性(r=-.686,p=.001)。上課時間太早,起不了床是早上班級的學生最常見的缺課理由。從課程選修的登記人數與繳交的學習報告來看,學生普遍認為此課程對其是有所幫助的。然而從缺課的情形來看,通識課程受到重視的程度明顯不如專業科目,縱使課程內容具有相當的生活實用價值。合適的上課時間,嚴格進行點名及實施期末扣考,與提高出席的成績比重,可能是改善這門「保健醫藥」通識課程學生缺課情形的辦法。

英文摘要

Various controversial issues related to current medical therapy become prevalent in our society. Literacy of living medicine has thus been thought essential for university students. The present study was to elucidate the absent frequency and its relationship with course score of a general education course in a central Taiwan's university at the 101 academic-year. Students (331) taking the course of "Living Medicine", which covers the background understandings of general medicine and is taught by a same teacher, were studied. The course consists of 2 hours of lecture each week at 8-10 AM on Mondays or Fridays, and at 8-10 PM on Tuesdays, respectively. The results showed that more than 31% students (101/331) were absent 5 or more out of 16 lectures in morning classes while there was less in the nighttime classes (2%, 6/331). In addition, absent frequency in second semester was more severe than first semester in all classes (4.5 vs. 3.1, p=.001; 1.7 vs. 0.9, p=.004). Course score was significantly correlated inversely with the absent frequency (r=-.686, p=.001). Can not get up was the most common reason for absence from the morning classes. From their add-drop records and term papers, most students reputed this course was helpful. Although it was apparently practical, however it could not be ranked as equal to professional education by most students. Suitable lecture time, strict roll-call and term-exam deduction, as well as raised the score proportion of attendance might be ways to reduce the absent frequency from this practical general education course.
