Automobile independent suspension steering mechanism, as one of the important assemblies of modern vehicles, is a typical kind of parallel mechanisms whose moving platform is knuckle and fixed base is frame. The essence of suspension mechanisms lies in, when the vehicle isn't steering, the motion of knuckle relative to frame is definite. So the target of type synthesis of suspension parallel mechanisms is to ensure that the dimension of the independent motion (or the DOF) of moving platform is one. Based on the Position and Orientation Characteristics (POC), and Single Open Chain (SOC) unit, the expression of DOF of moving platform and the concept of connectivity constraint degree were proposed. On the basis of that the type synthesis of non-steering rear suspension was done. As for steering front suspension, two ways of integration of steering motion, series and parallel, were summarized and the corresponding design methods and processes were proposed. At last, through several synthesis examples, the validity of the methods were verified. The research shows certain practical significance in terms of innovation design of suspension topological structure. |
