This study focuses on improving the load carrying capacity of asymmetric involute planetary gear. The corner radius of single-arc rack cutter is modified and the effect of different tool control parameters of dedendum height on fillet bending stress is studied when pressure angle changes or remains unchanged. The distributions of contact and bending stresses of internal and external engagement of planetary gear are obtained in the design range of pressure angle. With the minimum variance weighted value of safety factors as objective function, the asymmetric pressure angles of planetary gear are optimized and the optimal combination of pressure angles is obtained. Results show that with the dedendum height of rack-cutter at large pressure angle side as control parameter, bending stress will be lower. Under the optimal pressure angles combination, the bending and contact strength of asymmetric planetary gear can increase by 12.69% and 10.14% respectively compared with ordinary planetary gear.
