This paper presents the cutting-force induced error modeling and sensitivity analysis method under virtual environment, aiming to seek the weak spots of the machine tool rigidity. Taking a three-axis machining center for example, the error model associating cutting-force induced machining errors with each component deformation is established. Based on this model, sensitivity analysis method can be developed to recognise significant position of machine tool rigidity. In order to identify cutting-force induced machining errors and the displacement field in the early design stage, this research also investigates the simulation of the static performance involved in cutting action using Finite Element Method (FEM). Furthermore, the static stiffness experiment can be employed to verify the accuracy of the model and the simulation. Finally, the results of the sensitivity analysis indicate that the influence of position errors in x direction is more affected than angle errors in machining accuracy of machine tools. |
