臺灣地區多山少平原，無論公共建設或私人建案都必須往山區發展，以滿足民生或工業建設需求。近年來由於全球暖化，短延時強降雨的極端氣候事件出現頻率愈來愈高，其對於山坡地安全性極為不利，因此山坡地監測技術無論在範圍和密度上都有其提升的必要性。物聯網（IoT, Internet of Things）或稱智慧聯網為近十年來一個新興的時髦術語（buzzword），泛指將裝置連接至網際網路，並有眾多控制器、MEMS感測器、與通訊模組圍繞此概念被開發出來，而時髦的好處是相關產品大量生產而價格低廉，擁有極佳的效能／價格比，具有提升山坡地監測密度的潛力。本文將分享利用IoT相關軟硬體技術開發坡地監測裝置的經驗，並期望未來能看到更多土木營建方面的自動化監測設備能加以應用。
