This study concentrates on the implementation of SDG15 (Conservation of Terrestrial Ecosystems), particularly in the context of riparian plant and butterfly ecological assessment. With the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Water Resources Agency promoting ecological assessment mechanisms, ecological conservation has gradually gained attention, especially in the management of county and city rivers, regional drainage, and coastal environments. The United Nations' "2030 Sustainable Development Goals" (SDGs), announced in 2015, emphasize the protection and restoration of terrestrial life, with SDG15 playing a pivotal role. Here, plant restoration and butterfly conservation are key elements. Ecological engineering of riparian plants involves using plants and animals as ecosystem engineers to restore and enhance river ecosystems. This can be achieved through various methods such as upstream blocking, filtering river water, and purifying water quality. The study reveals a complex interaction between plants and butterflies, where plants have evolved chemical defense mechanisms against herbivores, and butterflies have developed strategies to adapt to these defenses. The study site is located at Zhunan Town's Suzuki Pond, an ecological waterfront recreation park with significant irrigation and flood control functions. Focusing on the riparian plants and butterflies of Suzuki Pond, the study explores their interrelation in ecosystem services. Findings indicate that plants play a crucial role in the ecology of butterflies, not only affecting their survival and reproduction but also having profound impacts on their species diversity and evolution. These insights are significant for the field of ecological assessment, aiding in a better understanding and protection of these richly diverse biological systems. |
