為了培養高中學生跨學科整合能力,教育部(2018)將「工程設計」定為高級中學科技教育的主軸。在工程設計專題的預測分析階段,藉由軟體模擬或建模來應用科學、數學等相關領域知識,進行設計方案的預測與分析。但實務上,高中學生並無法將所學之科學與數學等相關領域之概念性知識,根據專題情境或設計限制來進行應用。本文認為高中工程設計專題中的預測分析階段,「試誤學習」可以作為增進學生知識應用的教學方法,此方法讓學生嘗試應用所學知識於設計方案的測試中,當無法達到設計限制而失敗時,進行失敗經驗之反思,並區分、整理與重組之前所學之數學、科學等相關領域知識,讓學生有機會深入理解所學之概念性知識。本文最後提出一個工程設計試誤學習模式,並以手擲機專題為實例來說明如何應用此模式在高中進行「試誤學習」,給予一線教師教學之參考。
