苯酸（艹卡）酯在三甲氯化矽／金屬鈉／THF之條件下先行β-開裂後再經矽化反應得到矽化產物（艹卡）基三甲基矽(benzyltrimethylsilane)及甲苯基三甲基矽(trimethyltolylsilane)。

The Trimethylsilylation of a few benzene derivatives were investigated. It is found that simple electron donor or electron withdrawing effect of the substituent of benzene is not sufficient to rule the silylation of the benzene ring. Trimethylsilylation of benzylbenzoate leads to β-cleavage silylation and gives benzyltrimethylsilane (I) and trimethyltolylsilane (II). The structures of these compounds were characterized and discussed and the possible reaction path was also proposed.
