「生活課程」是臺灣國定課程史上的第一個以「統整課程」觀點切入所建構出來的跨領域課程，只出現在國小一、二年級。跨領域統整課程的理想教育圖像，雖然美麗，但無法一蹴可幾。從2000年第一代國民中小學九年一貫課程實施以來，生活課程在課程拼湊的路上顛簸走過，2007年97生活課綱穿上新衣重新出發，透過國教署生活課程與教學輔導團的努力、中央團與各縣市輔導團教師的通力合作，以及現場教師的活力與創意，奠定了生活課程主題課程設計與教學實踐的堅實基礎，十二年國民基本教育（以下簡稱十二年國教）中的統整生活課程於是水到渠成。本文嘗試就生活課程的理念、特性、主題設計原則以及對相關的議題進行闡釋，讓教師看到生活課程中的學童學習與發展。
