鈣離子阻斷劑是常用的高血壓心律不整用藥。在建議劑量使用下是相當安全的，但如果過量甚至中毒，可能產生很高的死亡率(約6%)。因為有較多的證據文獻，對於這類的病人在治療上有進一步的建議。像是高濃度胰島素治療(high-dose insulin therapy)以及脂質乳劑的治療(lipid-emulsion Therapy)都有被提及。同時，積極維持病人的生命徵象也是必要的。像是心收縮力的增強、血管收縮藥物的使用，如果有需要也可以使用體外循環輔助(venous-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, VA-ECMO, 葉克膜)，這些處置將改善病人的存活率。
