乳房是女性的重要性徵，其代表著繁衍、母性以及性感。乳房發育不良、畸型、或產後萎縮的女性往往造成社會心理上的壓力、低自信心以及性生活和社交生活的畏縮。隆乳手術對於有這方面問題的女性提供了一個改善的方法，改善女性的自信心以及心理社會生活。植入物隆乳手術發展數十年，植入物的研發及發展可說是一場精彩豐富的故事。直到現在高凝聚型的矽膠乳房植入物已廣泛的應用在臨床上。然而，隆乳手術仍然有需多因素要考量。除了手術本身以及美觀的併發症外，其他如哺乳困難、乳頭感覺異常、甚至有關於植入物導致的淋巴癌案例。本文就植入物的發展以及其併發症加強說明，希望對隆乳手術有更進一步的瞭解。
