放射誘導肺損傷(radiation-induced lung injury)最先在1898年被提及,就在放射線治療發展成功後不久之後。放射誘發肺損傷以及放射性肺炎和放射性纖維化是兩種不同的肺部傷害。今天可在接受胸部照射治療肺,乳腺或血液惡性腫瘤的患者中,觀察到這兩種類型的肺損傷。其中,胸部放射治療中的劑量為肺部損傷的關鍵因素,而傷害除了肺之外還可能同時涉及胸腔內的其他結構。放射誘導的肺損傷的臨床診斷常常與其他共病症的存在而顯得複雜,如惡性腫瘤,感染和心因性肺水腫。
