輸血為臨床治療病人時常用的處置，而輸血時機的判斷，主要根據醫師的臨床判斷及血液的檢查。歷年來有許多臨床研究試圖針對不同狀況找出最適切的輸血方針，本文除了通則外並進一步回顧四種不同臨床情境的相關輸血研究：加護病房、心臟相關手術、急性上消化道出血、髖部骨折等。整體而言，目前的證據建議血紅素低於7-8 g/dL才進行輸血，過早輸血無法顯著提升病患的照護品質。文末並有表格整理相關的研究結果，希望能藉此讓讀者了解近年來發表的輸血相關臨床試驗的主題與方向。
