肌少症(sarcopenia)是新近注目的老化症候群，其特徵在於走路速度減緩、握力下降、同時併有肌肉質量減少的情形。第2型糖尿病人罹患肌肉減少症的風險，是血糖正常者的3倍。世代追蹤研究發現，老年第2型糖尿病人，其肌肉質量減少的速度與肌力下降的情形，均較血糖正常者來得快速許多，因此本文針對肌少症的診斷標準、糖尿病產生肌少症的病理機轉、及肌少症篩檢在糖尿病人的重要性，與未來研究的趨勢作一介紹。
