本次醫療照護標準新建議指引為了使該部分更全面並反映關於糖尿病技術的新興數據，增加了關於兒童和青少年第1型糖尿病的積極胰島素治療方案、血糖自我監測、CGM和自動胰島素輸送系統的建議。強調從10-12歲開始對第1型糖尿病青年進行飲食失調篩檢的必要性。對於青少年和第1型糖尿病青少年，確定了基於風險的乳糜瀉篩檢的時機。根據新的證據，增加一項阻止青少年使用電子菸的建議。由於年輕人的估算方程式表現不佳，因此刪除了關於估計腎小球濾過率的建議。另外在兒童第2型糖尿病部分大幅度增加內容，並提出了幾項新的建議。
