硬皮症是一種較為少見的結締組織相關之自體免疫疾病。因肺部受到影響而產生硬皮症相關之間質性肺炎的患者，不但容易呼吸急促，肺部氣體交換功能下降，而且也可能產生次發性之肺動脈高壓。在歐洲的研究，肺部受到影響佔硬皮症疾病相關死亡率約20%。如能早期診斷、早期治療與密切追蹤，有賴多專科團隊的一起共同努力。
