博物館係社會教育機構,在文化與社會永續發展上扮演重要角色。面臨「營運績效」與「以觀眾為中心」的趨勢,博物館如何有效的運用觀眾研究的過程及結果,成為發展關鍵。本文試圖釐清博物館觀眾研究的內涵與理論基礎,省思觀眾研究與博物館營運發展關係,期有助於國內博物館有效運用觀眾研究。本文首先以歐美博物館界的觀點,說明博物館觀眾研究的定義與目的;其次討論博物館評量與觀眾研究的異同,並進一步闡釋各類評量屬性的博物館觀眾研究,以實例簡述觀眾研究的實踐與挑戰。文中除提及觀眾及非觀眾的市場研究外,最後特別論述博物館觀眾研究的理論基礎與實踐知能,以做為博物館觀眾研究專業發展的參考。 |
英文摘要 |
Museums are educational institutions that play important roles in the development of cultural heritage and sustainable society. Under the pressure of accountability and visitorfocused trends, museums need to know how to make visitor studies work for them in terms of management and development. This paper aims to explore the nature of museum visitor studies and the related theories for improving practice. Through explanations of the definitions and purposes of visitor studies in museums and the differentiation of evaluation and research, the author reflects on the practices and challenges of front-end evaluation, formative evaluation, remedial evaluation and summative evaluation-based visitor studies for museums. The importance of market research on actual visitors and potential visitors (non visitors) is emphasized. In addition, this paper points out that visitor studies are a discipline of museology and should be conducted on the basis of museum nature, social methodology, evaluation theory and related academic theories. Finally, the responsibility and basic competencies required for professional practice for all individuals who engage in visitor research and evaluation are discussed. |
