中文摘要 |
"Renaissance of Modern Women" is an animation inspired by the song "Pièce pour jeunes pianistes" by Georges Aperghis and Women's Rights. This animation is a look into the lives of women from different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds during three stages of their life, highlighting both the pleasures and struggles of modern-day women. The purpose of this project is to create an animation that visually represents the thoughts and feelings behind a song and bring awareness to the movement of Women's Rights. Through song analysis, it is determined "Pièce pour jeunes pianistes" is an abstract form of music because of its dynamic notes and untraditional style; and although gender equality has greatly improved over the last century, there are still many issues that need to be addressed. The culmination of research and analysis gave rise to the concept of using "Pièce pour jeunes pianistes" to portray a non-narrative view into the lives of modern women today, a contrast to traditional roles of women. Despite its wordless content, the emotional storytelling of non-narrative animation is just as easily understood as if it had narration. To emphasize the abstract nature of the music, and parallel it with the song, combined animation is utilized to emphasize this aesthetic. From start to finish, this paper discusses all aspects involved in creating this animation-including media references, song analysis, creation concept, method of achieving concept, transformation from music to animation, and a critique of the final product. |
