Human gender can be roughly divided into biological sex and social gender. When there is a conflict between an individual's psychological gender and socialized gender traits, it will have an impact on primary school children's self-concept, and it even hinders self-identity. Therefore, as teachers on the front line of education, we should adopt an open mind to let students grow up in true equality and respect. School-age children engage with the world by reading large amounts of text and images. Excellent picture books use the characteristics of graphics and text to create meaningful intellectual essence. Teachers at the education site use children's literature focusing on gender issues to conduct discussions, guiding students to rethink diverse gender identities. Based on this, it is more important to enrich the connotation of gender equality and cultivate beauty in literature. Children therefore need gender-equality-aware literature. The picture book "My Shadow is Pink" is a good picture book worth recommending. The author, Scott Stuart, uses the creative techniques of symbolism and contrast through pictures and texts, as well as the concealment and revelation in the flow of language, to lay out a multi-faceted journey of self-growth. That is, people who hide the true shadow to conform to social expectations, later they interact with important others, and then they break through the constraints of gender stereotypes, loving themselves as they are, listening to their inner voice, and being confident in being themselves. "My Shadow is Pink" uses literary creation techniques to take readers on a journey of growth. Teachers can start from the symbol of shadow to find out the gender stereotypes behind contrasting things in picture books, such as pink and blue, shadow and entity, pants and skirts, etc. Then, from the language of interaction between father and son, we find out the emotional changes of the protagonist in the process of revealing and hiding, and explore the awareness, conflict and thinking , and support of the gender stereotypes, and the changes brought about by this action on the protagonist. It guides young readers to become aware of the impact of body image and gender framework on the body and mind, learn to respect gender diversity, and jointly create a gender-friendly environment.
