This article discusses how the fundamental concern of Ye Shi's structuring of Confucianism lies not in differentiating and analyzing internal concepts of thought, but in reconsidering the way academic frameworks are constructed. I summarize the theoretical characteristic of his as being "antithetical to the structuring of antithesis" and explore the manner in which Ye Shi structured the "original orthodoxy" of Confucianism. The introduction explains the background of "the structuring of antithesis" in the Confucian academic community in Ye's era. The second section discusses his attitude towards Buddhism and Taoism, which was to let each theory stand as it is without responding negatively. The third section discusses Ye Shi's critique of the Confucianism of his day, which lay in the antithetical nature of its theoretical structuring intention and the disadvantages that this antithesis will cause. The fourth section discusses Ye's structuring of the "original orthodoxy" of Confucianism, which is the theory developed from the original foundation of Confucianism in a state of being sensitive to the antithetical nature of theoretical structuring. The fifth section attempts to respond to criticisms of Ye Shi's theory of Confucianism in academia. The conclusion asserts that being antithetical to the structuring of antithesis does not mean eliminating structuring, but rather restructuring without antithesis. Once this theoretical characteristic is understood, the unique features of Ye Shi's Confucianism can be appreciated in the context of Neo-Confucianism in the Song and Ming Dynasties.
