新型新型冠狀病毒肺炎在2019年底在中國武漢現蹤後，便快速席捲世界各地，對於社會以及民眾造成巨大的影響，在這波的疫情中台灣也面臨到全面性的衝擊，許多長者在染疫後出現功能下降甚至遺留長期的症狀。在本篇文章我們將探討一位感染新型冠狀病毒肺炎重症的病患，經過治療並順利轉至一般病房後仍出現持續性功能下降的情況，透過多專業團隊的周全性老年評估，辨認出因為染病造成的憂鬱症並安排協助及盡早進行適當的復健，期望回復本來的功能。希望透過此種模式減少染疫後的持續性的失能、進而改善長輩生活品質、降低醫療體系及家庭照護系統的負擔。

Since its outbreak in Wuhan, China at the end of 2019, COVID-19 had rapidy spread to other parts of the world and wreaked havoc across the globe. Taiwan also experienced drastic impacts of this wave of pandemic during which many infected elderly people suffered functional decline and even long-term post-infection sequelae. Herein, we discuss a patient admitted for severe COVID-19. Though successfully treated and transferred to a general ward, the patient continued to experience persistent functional decline. Through comprehensive geriatric assessments by a multidisciplinary team, depression caused by the disease was diagnosed and early and appropriate rehabilitation arranged to help restore the patient's functionality. Through this model, we hope to reduce persistent post-infection disability, thereby improving the quality of life of the elderly and reducing the burden on the health and family care systems.
